Lunch party with the tangsters

So. I have been cruising through the road to recovery and am ever so thankful for it. Especially today as we hosted a lunch party for 25 friends from our bible study group. Thank goodness for the barbeque chief of a hubby I didn’t have to do much cooking. Besides whipping up the pasta and the salad, the preparation was a breeze. Thanks to the many bbqs we had hosted past year, we had both become quite experts. *beam*

The gender of the party toppled to the males so the activity of the day centered very much on our table tennis table and the Xbox console. A couple of them even brought their controllers and the much talked about Wii! Boys. *roll eyes* It was really entertaining watching them release their inner child though. The girls on the other hand sat around sipping their tea and laughing at the silly antics that surrounded them.

Feeling sick

I was sick over the xmas holidays. Still feeling under the weather but I think I am on the road to recovery. It hit me last Thursday, the unmistakable pains of gastritis. Urk. I hate feeling sick. Especially this time of the year with all the yummy dinner parties and lunches. I have been spending most days bent over on my couch. Arg. I must have been such a pain.

Anyhow. The folks and the husband thought it would be a good idea to get me out of the house since I had spent Xmas eating nothing but porridge and arched over my pillows. In actual fact. I whimpered for it. I really needed to be out of the house to breathe in some fresh air. So off to Kirribili we went, with our picnic basket, to perch ourselves at the foot of the harbor bridge over looking the opera house and the city.

I SO want to get better before 07.

Grow little chillies.... grow!

More than a couple of months ago, mum stuffed several chilli seeds into my sad bare pots. And allowed spring to take over.

I could already taste the chilli paste she's going to make with my new harvest.

Christening

Yesterday, we attended a good friend's baby christening. The service was short but meaningful. I thought the pastor gave a really good explanation of baptism, which was refreshing. There are way too many misconceptions of what baptism really is about out there. And sadly, amongst christians too.

Welcome to the kindgom little one! May God watch over you always and perhaps in the not too distant future, you too will want make a public declaration of your very own and call yourself his own one day.

Chrisie pressies

Instead of hitting the shops for my Xmas pressies, I decided I'd make little gifts sprinkled with my little own warm personal touch for the gang this year. The result. Little beautiful scented Orange Cloves & Rose Bubs Pomanders. And a really sore clove-pricked thumb.

Xmas is in the air

So the xmas festivity is in the air. And to usher in the holiday season in good old aussie fashion, I joined a group of my ex-colleagues for a celebrative drinks night of champagne, pizzas and hot chips in the Greenwood Hotel in North Sydney.

It was such a good night catching up with everyone. Not to mention the flow of free champagne for the ladies! Woah! I need to get me out more often!

And no... I have not forgotten the true meaning of Xmas, so not to worry.

Random things about me

  • I turn into a scary control freak when it comes to my kitchen bench.

  • I love my fries with ice cream.

  • When I’m watching a movie I’m really into, I become absolutely un-contactable by the outside world.

  • Since 5, I have fallen in love with “The Sound of Music” and have watched it at least 50 times. But I still cannot remember the names of all 7 children. I can however sing every single song and recite the movie. word. for. word.

  • Every other month, I get attack by an irresistible impulse to clean. Toothbrush style. Yeah.

  • I cried when King Kong died. And I don’t mean a sob. It’s a full swelling eye, wet noise cry. And that’s the same with Charlotte’s Web. In fact, it’s any movie that involves an animal dying.

  • I get an incredible sense of empowerment after a heart pumping sweaty workout. The kinds of empowerment that make me genuinely believe I could conquer the world. Not to worry, I also quickly forget in about… eh… an hour.

Sunday

Yesterday, Mel's baby sister flew in for a short 4 days visit. It had been over a year since I last saw her and over 3 years for Mel so it was great to catch up with her again.

Before the airport, we stopped by Krispy Kreme for donuts and milkshakes. And watched little donut balls floating away on a river of hot cooking oil.

At the airport, after exchanges of hugs, and a quick city visit and church. We drove to Kensington and caught up with the relis over chinese and ate the best lotus leave chicken and mushroom ever.

It was just a nice, simple but yet so fulfilling Sunday. And it was so great to see my sister-in-law again.

oh. Check out this cool Xmas tree a friend made for me. All. Out. Of. Paper! It comes with star danglings, gifts under the tree and a cool angel finish. Thanks Damo. You rock!
