A quickie

Sorry for the absence! I have been so busy it's not funny. The husband has been going to work early and coming home late past 2/3 weeks. That translates to me getting to cover both morning AND night shifts with the girls. AND I am back full time for work. *phew*

Anyhoo. I saw this ad and thought I have to post it because it's just so darn cute. Hopefully it's enough to keep you guys occupied till I get my act together and post pictures we took at the wedding and my birthday branch. Yes. I have growm yet another year older. Non the wiser.

Enjoy!

Listerine as a repellent?

I read somewhere that listerine (mixed with some water) could be used as a mosquito repellent!? I have not tried to see if it works as yet (it's almost winter here in Australia and those little buggers have gone into hidding) but I'll be willing to give it a shot come summer.

Has anyone tried and think it works?

Play Dough Babies

I was doing some much needed house keeping on my laptop when I came across these. I had hosted and been to a few showers but these were the most interesting baby play dough creations I have seen thus far.

Ok... This is just wrong.....

Updates

I've just updated a couple more postings for month of April and May 07 so if you feel like a read, just browse your way there in the Archives on the right column of the blog.

I've been tagged...

...by a fellow blogger, which gives me good cause to get off my bums and start writting in my very neglected blog again.

Getting tagged means you are suppose to reveal seven little-known facts about yourself. So here I go...

1. I'm an adaptor sleeper. I could fall sleep anyway. In trains, on buses, on planes, on the sofa, in the car... you name it. As long as there's a seat, I'm banked.

2. I luuurrrvVVvee freshly ground black peppercorn.

3. Eating carefully and tastefully prepared food makes me happy.

4. I have the ability to sob uncontrollably over a sad book.

5. I enjoy making my friends laugh.

6. Chocolates does nothing for me.

7) When I laugh hard, I tear and can’t see clearly. It’s a curse.

Another random things about me

  • I take an average of 40 to 50 minutes to get ready when I head out to play. But for work, I can be out the door in 10. And that includes taking a shower. This peculiar paradox drives my husband insane!

  • Sunny days make me happy. And raining days make me sleepy.

  • I cannot whistle. Not even if my life depended on it. And I was my secondary school silver-awarded band solo trumpeter. You’d think I’ll put the 2 & 2 together?!

  • I am a proud self confessor of “Perfector-of-no-trades”. But when I get obsessed with something (be it climbing, home projects, past thesis, preparing for a sales presentation), I get possessed and allow it to consume me completely till it’s done right. scary…..

  • I divide my food into equal portions as I eat. Reason being, I just like to have all food groups present for my last spoon. I know. I’m a strange one.

  • I get quite animated when I get excited.

  • I still get the flutters sometimes when I ring my husband at work. Especially if we have not spoken all day. *silly smile*

Random things about me

  • I turn into a scary control freak when it comes to my kitchen bench.

  • I love my fries with ice cream.

  • When I’m watching a movie I’m really into, I become absolutely un-contactable by the outside world.

  • Since 5, I have fallen in love with “The Sound of Music” and have watched it at least 50 times. But I still cannot remember the names of all 7 children. I can however sing every single song and recite the movie. word. for. word.

  • Every other month, I get attack by an irresistible impulse to clean. Toothbrush style. Yeah.

  • I cried when King Kong died. And I don’t mean a sob. It’s a full swelling eye, wet noise cry. And that’s the same with Charlotte’s Web. In fact, it’s any movie that involves an animal dying.

  • I get an incredible sense of empowerment after a heart pumping sweaty workout. The kinds of empowerment that make me genuinely believe I could conquer the world. Not to worry, I also quickly forget in about… eh… an hour.

Labor Day

Last Monday was Labor Day, so the family decided to make a day out of it and do the Split Bridge Walk.

Nothing much to report really other than it was a really lovely sunny day and it was nice just chilling out with hubby and parents.

Anyways, thought I’d post some pictures I took that day.

Sudden impulse moment

I flew in to Melbourne for a couple of days for work. On my return ride to the airport. It suddenly dawn upon me that despite the many trips (both for work and pleasure) to Melbourne. I have never taken a picture of this city before!

Acting purely on an irrational impulse to capture the moment. I scrambled through my bag, took out my camera and quietly snapped away from the back seat of the taxi.

I got a couple of weird glares from the driver through his rear mirror for that.

How embarrassing.

Brisbane

I had some spare time during lunch today and thought I'd post some pictures I took in a recent business trip to Brisbane.

The Man Made Beach

The first time I saw this man-made beach was back in 2001. I was like… “what’s the point?! Could never beat the real thing. Crazy beach obsessed Queenslanders.”

But now, looking at the little kiddies splashing around in the safety of the confined toddler zone. Parents watching away looking absolutely relaxed and stress free. I suddenly thought to myself- What a great idea!

An Indescribable Moment

Words cannot describe how good it feels to sit in the sun, sipping down a nice cool drink on a glorious spring day. Coming from tropical humid Singapore. I never take the beautiful weather that Australia is so blessed with for guaranteed.

Thus the saying …What a lucky country we live in… sigh…. I concur… =)

er...Belts Galore??

I must have taken this out of sheer boredom. No doubt it must have been while I was sitting in my room, after an idealistic dash on the treadmill, waiting for dinner and feeling absolutely famished. hehe… Belts anyone??

Something borrowed something ……..Turquoise??

I am utterly in love with the colour turquoise.

The radiance of its shade.

The way it lifts up a dull outfit.

The way it draws attention to the eye.

Its association with anything chic and funky.

AND the way it stands out against my skin.
