Take me out to the ball game....

Except that this was the cricket.
It was a 20 / 20 match between England and Australia, so it was a guarantee slog fest. We were seated so close to the wicket I could almost smell the sweat! And SO darn tempted to rush up the front with the other 9 years olds for Andrew Flintoff's autograph. But really I'll be having a perv. hehe..

Driving range

So the folks thought it was high time we got our little buds onto the driving range to whack some golf balls. And off to the course we went.

Could you just see how bad my posture was??? I had fun goofing around sending balls flying in all directions though. But not so happy with my blistered sore hands after. Must remember gloves next time. *pout*

Top 8 not meant to be

Australia's world cup dream has abruptly and cruelly come to an end this morning after a penalty kick was awarded to Italy just minutes away from the whistle.

It was controversial, painful and oh SO undeserving.

The top 8 was not meant to be.

But let’s not take away what the Socceroos has done for Australia. We have made a mark in the international realms of football and have played amongst the top 16 teams in the world! Surely that alone is worth celebrating for.

So congratulations Socceroos! It has been a great ride.

GO Socceroos!

11:45pm, 45mins into the game.

Score 0-1 in Japan’s favour.

Anger mounted at the controversial goal.

Getting tired and restless.

Half time… toilet break and a quick silent prayer.

80mins….. waiting for a miracle now.

12.35am…. boy am I going to pay for it tomorrow…

Than.

Amongst the sleepiness and nail biting … the unimaginable happened.

Australia’s first and equalising goal by Tim Cahill!

Suddenly. There is HopE!!!

Come on!!!!!!! …. One MoRE…!!!!! COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And it happened!!!

Breathe held in before the realisation of a wining opportunity!

Jubilation sets in with Aloisi sealing Australia’s final goal.

Score. 3-1.

The whistle ….

VICTORY!!!!!!!!

I say!

What a way to draw the world’s attention to our first World Cup debut in 32 years!

Well done guys! And thanks for a great match Socceroos!!

Come what may Brazil!!! It’s GAME ON!!!!! YEAH!!!!!

World Cup Fever

Australia has qualified to play in the prestigious 2006 FIFA World Cup. It’s THE king of all kings match in the soccer realms and the whole nation is sited.

Almost every second car has a little gold and green Socceroos flag waving proudly in the rear window. Good luck cheers shouting from all corners of the commercial world to the proud and esteemed team, already crowned as heroes for beating Uruguay in the qualifying match.

I myself (I have to admit) am not a real soccer enthusiast. Though I do enjoy participating in all the fuzz and jazz over 11 men running around madly chasing and manoeuvring a ball. But coming from Singapore, it’s hard to find a real course that would make crazing over a team worth while.

So when Australia made her way into this year’s world cup. I naturally was all hyped up for it. I now have a genuine course in supporting the sport by cheering on the national team of my adopted country. And judging by the performance of the Socceroos in the qualifying match, I trust that they will put up a good fight jammed packed with a truck load of world class football entertainment.

Bring it on!

Heart stopping moment

Went for my weekday climb today.

I was all pumped up and ready for a challenge. I always climb well on a weekday. It must be because of all the experienced climbers around me. They could teach you so much.

My dream man was there [shameless but true, I have someone I like to drool over on the side when I'm having a rest]. We spotted him on our 2nd visit. He has all the usual drop dead combinations. Dreamy eyes, mid length hair, European looks. AND a very good body. Not those musculi ones whose hands never meet body type. Just a well toned, well defined body.

I sat quietly watching him from the corner of my eye. Shamelessly having a private gar gar moment.

Anyhow. I learnt how to "smear” tonight. It is standing with one foot in a foothold, and the other next to it on the wall. Than using the support from both feet, lodge yourself upwards.

I scraped myself on the arm while falling down. My very first climbing injury!

So proud.

Bouldering

I finally made a breakthrough with climbing today. It has been over 2 months since I got back into serious bouldering. A break way too long in the world of bouldering. Apparently you loose finger muscles after just one week of non-activity!

Before my trip to Japan, I was slowing graduating onto the 3s and 4s routes [which translate to intermediate]. It had taken me about 2 – 3 months of hard sweat, lots of grunting, pains, and perseverance to get there.

Now, I’ll be laughing if I could finish a 1! [yes... for beginners]. Arrgg.

So a week ago, I told myself. It is either the hard way or the high way. I have been working my ass off for the past few weeks and today, I actually [with the help of some new found friends] made a break through and managed a 2 relatively comfortably! Hey! I’m SO proud. *BEAM*

I got light headed and thought I may just be able to take on a [sometimes extremely challenging] 3!

Ooohh Maannn, what a mistake. I dangled. I heaved. I panted. I grunted. It was not a pretty sight.

I sat in front of tele later that night groaning and whinging away at my sore body. The finals of the State of Origins was on and I could literally feel every single tackle. Oouuucchhh….

I am SO going to pay for it tomorrow.
